Key Speeches and Philosophies
Qin Feng, Director of Beijing MOCA, who is also Director of the Qinhan Contemporary Art Research Institute, a researcher at Harvard University's Contemporary Art Research Institute, and a renowned contemporary artist, shared the museum's philosophy and vision in his address. He pointed out that the 15th Songzhuang Culture and Art Season marks the first time this international art event is presented in the format of an 'Art Season,' a change garnering significant attention from the global art world. He emphasized that the museum consistently promotes the internationalization of Chinese and Songzhuang art with a global perspective. Leveraging their professional backgrounds and international resources, the academic committee continues to build bridges for Sino-foreign artistic exchange, helping Songzhuang art reach the world while introducing cutting-edge global art concepts domestically. He also mentioned that the strategic cooperation between the museum, the Songzhuang Town Government, and the Beijing Songzhuang Investment Development Co., Ltd. breaks down barriers between government and enterprise, providing solid support for the sustainable development of Songzhuang's art ecosystem and the museum's innovative practices. The participation of multiple art academies, the presentation of representative works by artists like Qiu Qijing, and the planned sub-projects for "Flower of Time" further position the exhibition as a long-term platform connecting academic education, traditional cultural context, and contemporary art practice.

Beijing MOCA Director Qin Feng delivered a speech at the opening ceremon

Liu Lei, Secretary of the Songzhuang Party Committee and representative of the main organizer, affirmed the positive role of Beijing MOCA in regional cultural construction during his speech. Secretary Liu mentioned that during the 15th Songzhuang Culture and Art Season, 42 high-level exhibitions are blossoming throughout the art and creative town, fully showcasing Songzhuang's new vitality through various art activities. He stated that the successful presentation of this dual exhibition is the result of the collective efforts of the chief planning team, curatorial staff, participating institutions, and artists. It centrally reflects Songzhuang's exploratory achievements in areas such as contemporary art breakthroughs, the promotion of temporal culture, international cooperation, and the synergy of academic artistic forces. He expressed particular anticipation for the subsequent sub-projects of "Flower of Time" to inject more vitality into regional cultural development.

Curator Li Tiejun provided an in-depth academic interpretation of the exhibition's curatorial concept and artistic lineage. He pointed out that this dual exhibition is an experimental art thematic exhibition that breaks traditional boundaries. Through the uniqueness of its planning dimension and the singularity of its creative expression, each work becomes a living entity carrying ideas and enabling dialogue—it is not merely a collision of different artistic languages but also a profound resonance of the Eastern spirit.
Li Tiejun mentioned that the exhibition is guided by the spiritual thread of the balanced philosophy of "the interdependence of Yin and Yang" and the Eastern cosmic view of "the unity of heaven and humanity." The "Flower of Time" section takes female life experience as its core. Chinese and international female artists like Chen Qingqing, Qiu Yuwen, as well as transnational creators such as an artist from France and sibling artists from India, with their unique female perspectives and diverse cultural backgrounds, embed the Eastern view of life—"endless vitality"—within their delicate expressions. Subsequent sub-projects will extend this force, promoting the development of female art and youth creativity. The "Autumn of Art" section, leveraging the openness of public space, echoes the inclusive philosophy of "the co-existence of all things."

Artist Qiu Qijing presented sculptures of mythical creatures from the "Classic of Mountains and Seas," revitalizing ancient mythological imagery in a contemporary art context with exquisite craftsmanship. Artist Qin Chong brought the land art piece "Tear," transforming himself into a drop of water, returning to the ancient, dried-up riverbed in the Taklamakan Desert. He recreated the "water droplet spectacle" within the desert at Beijing MOCA, inviting public participation to write wishes on the水滴, transform themselves into a drop of water, and integrate into contemporary art, awakening a profound understanding and reverence for nature and life. Liu Jinglu's sculpture "Human Character" uses simple forms to expound upon the laws of nature, practicing the artistic concept of "conveying truth through form," making abstract philosophy intuitively present through visual形态. The collaborative work "Lifting the Moon" by artists Bin Jinxian and Hai Tao conveys artistic ingenuity through the uniquely flexible texture of soft sculpture, exploring the future through large-scale outdoor public soft sculpture. Works by teachers and students from the Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing Peili Vocational College School of Art, and others convey the spirit of the times, allowing art to step out of the exhibition hall and engage in natural dialogue with the city, viewers, and time itself. Here, works are no longer isolated—a painting depicting the texture of time might resonate with an autumn-themed installation in public space through the principle of "the mutual complementarity of hardness and softness"; a video recording self-reconciliation might collide with an auspicious-themed creation like Zhang Lingmin's "Sacred Elephant," producing a rhythm of "harmony between movement and stillness." Using art as a bridge, they unravel the folds of time, also interpreting the dialectic of "change and constancy" in Eastern philosophy: what changes are the forms and expressions of art, while what remains constant is the deep inquiry into the essence of life, heaven, earth, and humanity.
